Thank You Veterans!

Wow, it has been way too long since we did a blog post! We have had a few performances since Acappellastock, but mostly we have been taking a break enjoying the time with our families!

However, yesterday we had the opportunity to sing for some Veterans in Layton. (It was Veterans Day) :) I have to say that for me, it was the most emotional performances yet. I didn't think anything of it as we walked up to the podium to sing. We began singing "What'll I Do?" which happens to be my solo. About 2 lines in, I looked down at the front row at this little old lady. She had a big gracious smile, and tears streaming down her wrinkled face. I really shouldn't have looked at her. I lost it. Yeah, I started bawling while I was singing. I think I was able to keep it together enough to make the words somewhat understandable, but my voice was all over the place, and tears were streaming down my (slightly wrinkled) face. I thought about this old lady and imagined her husband going off to war, wondering if he would return. Maybe they had small children. Maybe he did return, and the exuberant feelings they all must have had to see each other again.

After our performance, that same little old lady came up to me afterward to tell me how beautiful the songs were. She didn't care that I couldn't hold my own. She thanked me for feeling it in my heart and sharing it with them. Yeah, I started crying again.

In the ceremony yesterday, the mayor explained what the 13 folds of the flag meant. It was very interesting. One of them was for the men and women who are still missing in action. I can't imagine being someone close to them and having to go through that. Anyway, so many things went through my mind, and it was very emotional and made me really grateful for all those who have served are country, or who are now serving our country. Thank You!!

Our Recording Adventure

This past week we had the amazing opportunity to record a couple of our songs. This was our first time doing anything like this, so we are very excited, if you can't tell :)

Here is Becky recording the pitch and tempo tracks; this had to be done before we could do any singing.

Here we are in all our recording glory!
And here is the man- Jared Allen, mixing and editing the recordings. Thank you so much for your help Jared!

For now, we just have one song you can listen to. We did record another one, but it won't be ready for a while. We will definitely let you know when it is done though! So, here is our first recording. Let us know what you think!

By the way, I couldn't figure out how to add an mp3 to a blog. So you will just have to listen to it on facebook. If anyone knows how I can add it to the blog, please let me know!

Practice Peek

Can I just say how thrilled we are for the wonderful fans and feedback we have gotten already? (And we haven't even performed yet!) We have been practicing really hard, not only our music, but getting our group organized and ready to go.

We mentioned before that we want this blog to be somewhat informal; a place to get to know us. Well, here's a little peek at our rehearsal the other day. Sometimes our rehearsals can be a little crazy, because between the 4 of us, we have 8 kids. However, we still managed to focus and have a great rehearsal. Here are the cute babies- they were all born within a couple weeks of each other.

They were cheering (sometimes crying) us on the whole time. Maybe we'll teach them to be our back-up dancers. They can shake a mean booty.

Well, there's a peek into one of our rehearsals. Peace & Love!!

p.s. We are recording our first song next week, and I think we will be able to post it. If not here, then on the A Cappellastock website for sure.
