SAR Awards Banquet

Well, it has been a while since we've updated the old blog. Truthfully, we've kind of been taking a break. We've all been having babies, and that kind of takes up a little time. We still absolutely love performing and hope to be able to get back in the swing of things soon. We are taking the summer off, but maybe by Christmas and hopefully next summer we will be able to perform a lot more! We just hate saying no to gigs, but our families do take #1 priority. However, we did get to sing for the Sons of the American Revolution back in February, and they invited us back for their special awards ceremony.
Here we are in February at the Capitol in Salt Lake. Becky Snarr was our fill in since Becky Squire couldn't make it.
Then, on Saturday, May 19th, we were honored to be invited to their awards banquet. We were each given a special certificate during the ceremony. Stephanie wasn't able to attend this one since she was in Hawaii.
And below is a video of one of our songs we sang at the awards ceremony at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.

Patriot Day

Happy Patriot Day! It feels weird saying "Happy" in front of that, as I'm sure most of you have solemn memories of that day, as I do. I don't know about you, but I LOVE hearing "where were you when..." stories. If you are reading this, please leave a comment telling me where you were 10 years ago today (Sept. 11th). I was at home getting ready for my classes at WSU when I heard my mom scream from the kitchen. She was watching it on the news and saw the first plane hit. I joined her and we watched the second plane hit, and the towers go down. It was such a day of sadness and terror. I was so scared for those men and women and also amazed at their bravery and heroism. And I am so grateful for them and for those who have been serving our country all these years.

Anyway, it's been a while since we have put anything on the ol' blog. So here's a little bit of a catch-up and some pics from our concert a couple nights ago.

We were asked to sing at the Fruit Heights Stake for a special annual activity they do for the High Priests. Last year the entertainment was Lex de Azevedo, so yeah....we got to follow that. But it was a lot of fun and we did a lot of our patriotic numbers as well as some spiritual ones. Here are a couple pics from that night...

Getting ready/warming up...

Mandi wasn't able to perform with us, because she had a BABY the morning after our performance!! So congrats to her, they are all doing well.

More exciting catch-up news- Becky had her baby....9 weeks ago. And Shannon is having a baby in May. That will be a grand total of 14 kids between the 5 of us...so far. Yup, that's what you get with a women's group!

So that about wraps up the last little while. So, where were you...?

Special Needs Concert

Don't worry, we won't be doing a post for every performance we do. But I thought this one was worth mentioning. I think it is one of the funnest performances we have ever done. Definitely one of the funnest audiences. We were privileged to perform for the Special Needs Mutual in the Ogden area.
Before we started singing Dancing Queen, we invited one cute girl who was wearing a purple tiara, to come to the front and be our "Dancing Queen" while we sang. Well, it wasn't long before we had many "Dancing Queens" showing off their dancing skills!

They were so fun and so gracious and loved us to death. And we loved them to death! We'll never forget this experience!!
In other news, stay tuned because we have some exciting news concerning our group that we'll share with you very soon. Hint: There is a clue on the right side of our blog. Happy Thanksgiving!
