Thank You Veterans!

Wow, it has been way too long since we did a blog post! We have had a few performances since Acappellastock, but mostly we have been taking a break enjoying the time with our families!

However, yesterday we had the opportunity to sing for some Veterans in Layton. (It was Veterans Day) :) I have to say that for me, it was the most emotional performances yet. I didn't think anything of it as we walked up to the podium to sing. We began singing "What'll I Do?" which happens to be my solo. About 2 lines in, I looked down at the front row at this little old lady. She had a big gracious smile, and tears streaming down her wrinkled face. I really shouldn't have looked at her. I lost it. Yeah, I started bawling while I was singing. I think I was able to keep it together enough to make the words somewhat understandable, but my voice was all over the place, and tears were streaming down my (slightly wrinkled) face. I thought about this old lady and imagined her husband going off to war, wondering if he would return. Maybe they had small children. Maybe he did return, and the exuberant feelings they all must have had to see each other again.

After our performance, that same little old lady came up to me afterward to tell me how beautiful the songs were. She didn't care that I couldn't hold my own. She thanked me for feeling it in my heart and sharing it with them. Yeah, I started crying again.

In the ceremony yesterday, the mayor explained what the 13 folds of the flag meant. It was very interesting. One of them was for the men and women who are still missing in action. I can't imagine being someone close to them and having to go through that. Anyway, so many things went through my mind, and it was very emotional and made me really grateful for all those who have served are country, or who are now serving our country. Thank You!!
